In an interview with La Sexta, earlier this year, Rafael Nadal said Novak Djokovic is the best player in the world referring to his statistical superiority. He called the Serb a ‘good person’ and stated that Djokovic had a better body than him.
“Novak breaks the racket but at the next point he is one hundred percent, that’s why he is the one who has achieved the most in the history of our sport. The numbers don’t lie, I would say he is the best in history. He has had a better body than mine and that also counts,” Nadal said.
Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam titles, 14 of which were the French Open. He has won 92 ATP career singles titles (131 finals) with 63 of them on clay. The Spaniard is also an Olympic gold medalist in the singles and doubles events.
Meanwhile, Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam winner. He has 99 ATP career singles titles (140 finals) and is also an Olympic gold medalist in the singles event. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win gold at the Paris Games in August.
