Manchester City star Phil Foden has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award at the 2024 edition of the Northwest Football Awards.
The 24-year-old, who was recently named the PFA Players Player of the Season, enjoyed a remarkable campaign for Manchester City during the 2023/24 season, helping the Sky Blues to the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Foden registered 39 direct goal involvements in 53 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, as Manchester City won a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title during the last campaign.
The versatile midfielder has recently been nominated for the Ballon d’Or award next month, and has won a number of prestigious personal accolades in recent years, as well as helping England reach the European Championship final during the summer.
The 24-year-old has also been named as a nominee for the Premier League Player of the Season at the Northwest Football Awards, alongside Josh Cullen, Jordan Pickford, Mohamed Salah, Bruno Fernandes.
Kane Taylor, who returned to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, has also been nominated for Rising Star of the Season award in recognition of his performances for the City Football Academy.
The teenager has been nominated alongside 20 others, including Luca Koleosho, Jarrod Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah, Kobbie Mainoo, Adam Mayor, Sam Tickle.
Foden’s nomination comes despite the Englishman having played just 45 minutes for Manchester City so far this season, with the midfielder having been struggling with a prolonged period of illness.
The Manchester City star hasn’t featured since the second-half of a 0-2 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with the problem also forcing the 24-year-old to withdraw from England international duty this month.
