Nick Kyrgios receives backlash for ‘second serve’ comment on Anna Kalinskaya, Jannik Sinner’s girlfriend

Anna Kalinskaya has attended Jannik Sinner’s matches at US Open, where Nick Kyrgios is a commentator.
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has attracted another new controversy after he took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a comment on Anna Kalinskaya of Russia.

Anna Kalinskaya is currently dating ATP World No. #1 Jannik Sinner, who will face America’s Taylor Fritz in the final of US Open 2024. She has also reportedly dated Nick Kyrgios in the past. A Twitter user posted a picture of Kyrgios and Kalinskaya on social media, where the two can be seen wearing NBA tops.

Replying to the tweet, the former Wimbledon runner-up wrote, “Second serve”. Also, Kyrgios didn’t elaborate on what he meant and later deleted the post. As per the tennis world on social media, the Aussie wanted to dig into Kalinskaya’s current boyfriend, Jannik Sinner.

Tennis writer Olly Paton of tennismajors.com tweeted an image of Kyrgios’s post along with the words: “Kyrgios about Kalinskaya”. Replying to the post, he replied, “Right… so I’m the one that’s the bad guy for saying something about it? I never brought it up lol. Don’t take offence if people are gonna bring it up. Simple.”

In the same post, an X user pointed out the Australian tennis player for taking a ‘disrespectful’ and ‘abusive’ dig over Kalinskaya. Replying to the tweet, he wrote, “Abusive? What’s abusive about what I said? I had no intention to say anything about it. People wanna go there and deal with the consequences.”

Kyrgios stated that he didn’t have any intention of saying anything about the matter. However, he still decided not to elaborate on his comment. The 29-year-old also called out Sinner after it was revealed that he tested positive for Clostebol, a banned substance in sports.
