Man City’s Bernando Silva names the team he found harder to beat out of Arsenal and Liverpool
However, their incredible run hasn’t been as easy as their silverware collection may suggest.
Indeed, City have been pushed to their limit in recent years by the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsenal came so close to winning the league last year, and Arsenal are being tipped for the title again this season, while Liverpool have had some historic battles with City.
Bernardo Silva names Liverpool as toughest Premier League opponents
Silva spoke about City’s rivalry with Liverpool.
Not only did the Portuguese star say that Liverpool are his toughest opponents, he also says he prefers beating Liverpool than Manchester United due to how close this rivalry has been.
Speaking to Pro Direct Soccer, Bernardo Silva has been discussing his toughest opponents at City, and he says that Liverpool are the toughest team to face in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal.
Who would you say your toughest opponent is in the Premier League?” Silva was asked.
“I always tend to go to Liverpool because I respect them a lot because of how good they are and how tough it was for us over the years to beat them. So Liverpool players are always the toughest I would say,’ Silva said.
“Who do you prefer to beat, Man United or Liverpool?” Silva was asked.
“As I said, Liverpool were our biggest rivals, I’ve been at Man City for seven years and a few months, and Liverpool were always the toughest, but I like beating Man United as well,” Silva said.
Bernardo Silva’s record against Liverpool
Silva names Liverpool as his toughest opponents, and his record against the Reds does make for interesting reading.
Liverpool and City have been so tightly matched in recent years, and the numbers stack up to that effect.
Silva as played 18 games against Liverpool, and he has a perfectly balanced record of six wins, six losses and six draws.
Silva has three goals and three assists to his name during these games.
Silva may have named Liverpool as his toughest opponents, but he’s deftly aware of the threat Arsenal pose, stating last season that he expects the Gunners to challenge for titles again in the future.
“I know their manager very well because he was here with us, I know how demanding and how intelligent he is. If you look at their squad, they’re so young and, for sure, they’re very hungry to go after some titles, so no doubt,” Silva said.
Arsenal, Liverpool and City are all in the title race this season, and it will be interesting to see how this year’s battle unfolds.
