Coco Gauff showed her support for Angel Reese after the season-ending injury was announced.

Angel Reese received strong support from one of her well-known fans in U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff.

This comes after Reese announced that her first WNBA season is ending after a wrist injury sustained in the Chicago Sky’s matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 6 shut her down for the remainder of the year.

“What a year,” Reese wrote on X. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol.”

“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so.”

Finishing her announcement, Reese concluded, “You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!”

Coco Gauff responded to Reese’s announcement on Instagram with a simple but effective four-word message to show her appreciation for someone she strongly supports.

so proud of you,” Gauff said in her reply.

Reese’s rookie season was not only a success but also historic. She averaged the most rebounds in a season in WNBA history, she had the highest rebounds per game average in a single season, and she recorded the most consecutive double-doubles in WNBA history.

There is so much for Gauff to be proud of regarding what Reese achieved in her rookie season. Now, she can look forward to what Reese can accomplish in Year 2.

With several games left to play while fighting for a playoff spot, the Sky will move forward without Reese on the court as they face the Dallas Wings tonight at 7 p.m. ET.
