Carlos Alcaraz has seemingly put his US Open nightmare behind him after beating Tomas Machac at the Davis Cup Finals.
Alcaraz stayed positive against Machac after losing the first set of their Davis Cup Finals group stage match 6-7(3-7).
The Spaniard then produced a superb second set 6-1 win, with his opponent retiring with injury before the deciding set could really get going.
Alcaraz helped Spain take an unassailable 2-0 lead over the Czech Republic, with Roberto Bautista Agut having won his meeting with Jiri Lehecka.
The Spaniard is representing his nation in the Davis Cup Finals after Alcaraz struggled at Cincinnati and the US Open.

A first round exit was suffered in the former against Gael Monfils, with a second round exit coming in the latter against Botic van de Zandschulp.
But Alcaraz is now back on winning terms, even if his meeting with Machac was ended early due to his opponent’s injury.
The Spaniard has now reached out to the Czech following their match, writing on X: “Get well soon, Tomas.”
