The incidents that occurred a little over a month ago regarding certain social media posts by players like Paula Badosa or Magda Linette in China (with gestures that could be interpreted as racist) have led all the tennis players to receive a serious warning, pledging to be responsible in the future, as reported by James Gray in iNews: “The reason for such a severe response is that the WTA cannot afford to take the generosity of their hosts for granted: the Chinese tournaments this year represented nearly £12 million in prize money on the women’s circuit”.
