WADA has decided Jannik Sinner’s fate: and the choice is the right one

Jannik Sinner’s doping-issue has shocked the world of tennis, dividing the opinion of the media, insiders, fans and other tennis players. There are those who obviously sided with the Italian, those against (or rather, against the ways in which Jannik went towards absolution, without being stopped).

A few days ago, WADA asked for additional documentation: a situation that prolonged the appeal times. Initially, the fans of the ATP number 1 were waiting for the 21 days of the deadline from sending the documentation but WADA has asked for additional resources for more competent assessments and evaluations.

WADA review is still ongoing: the organization has received all the documentation and is evaluating what to do. A few but clear words emerged from the communications manager of the world anti-doping control body. At the moment WADA can appeal Jannik Sinner’s sentence by September 30th but, unless there are sensational reversals – as also reported by some Italian media like Tennis World Italy – optimism filters through. WADA should not appeal the Italian, thus letting the terms run.

At the moment there is obviously no certain information but the feelings are positive, with the world anti-doping control body that should not intervene to change this particular and long-standing affair. And it would be a correct decision: Jnanik has already been heard and found innocent, although his haters are fighting for a review of the trial.

Meanwhile, Casper Ruud also spoke out about the matter, analyzing: “What Sinner did well, in his defense, is that he managed to find an explanation within 15 days of testing positive. He understood quite quickly where it came from. There are not many athletes who manage to find an explanation within 15 days, but Jannik managed to do it. It is in his favor that he quickly discovered where the substance came from and that he has a reasonable explanation.”

In the meantime, most of the tennis players are currently busy with the Davis Cup while the world number one Sinner took a few days off to relax after the US Open. The Italian has returned to his city where he is enjoying a well-deserved rest with his family and thus remains with his loved ones.
